Releasing of Players
When you release a player from your roster you will still owe that player half of his remaining contract. You may pay it all at once however, or break it up throughout the years. However the contract must be paid off shorter than or equal to the length of the original contract. Players with contracts 1m and under can be dropped with no penalty.
For example: I have Loul Deng. Deng is 11mil (2013-14). So that is 11 mil for 4 years. If I release him, I still owe him 22m or 5.5m/year. I can pay that yearly, or I can release him and say 2 years at 11m a year. It can not spread it out longer than years. For players with smaller contracts you would be able to pay it all in year.
When releasing a player, the release penalty will be rounded up to the nearest $0.1m
You may not bid on a player that you have released for a period of 30 days.
Releasing players after the Player Release Deadline
If a Player is released from their team after the Player Release Deadline has passed, you must pay the whole of this year's salary, plus half of next year's salary.
example:
Player X has a 2-year contract (current year and next year) 3.0m 3.0m
If player X is bought out prior to the Player Release Deadline, you must pay half his remaining contract over one year, or across the two years (1.5m + 1.5m).
If player X is bought out after the Player Release Deadline, you must pay the full contract for the current year, plus half of next year's contract.(3.0m + 1.5m). This can be paid in one year, or across two years.
As this is a new rule, it will not be put in affect for the 2013-14 season. A Player Release Deadline will apply for the 2014-15 season onwards, and the deadline will typically be around week 18-19 of the fantasy calendar
