Only 5 winning bids allowed open at one time please.
Bidding Increments
The minimum bid increase is $200k for bids under 5m total. Then it increases to $500k minimum increase.
Bidding Above the Cap
There is no limit to the maximum bid for Free Agents and GMs can bid above their cap during free agency, provided they can get below the cap limit within 24 hours (strict penalties apply).
Teams who make a bid on a player which will place them over their cap space must justify how they will clear the required cap space as part of their bid for each player.
Winning a Bid
After winning a bid, teams will need to subsequently sign the player by determining the contract duration and any moves necessary to sign the player within 72 hours.
Teams may chose forfeit the signing of a player after winning a bid only if the bid is a non-guaranteed contract ($1m per year or less).
If a player on a non-guaranteed contract is not signed within the 72-hour time window, the bid will be forfeited.
Teams must sign the player if the winning bid is a guaranteed contract. The player may subsequently be released, and the associated buy-out penalties will apply.
Forfeited Bids
In Any instances where a team's bid has been forfieted, the next-highest bidder will have the opportunity to sign the player. If there was no next-highest bidder, or the next-highest bidder also elects not to sign the player, he will be released into free agency.
Salary Cap
We will use a cap of $70m and it will be a hard cap. You will not be able to over the cap. For teams that start out over the cap. They will not be allowed to bid on FA's until they are under the cap. If they bid on a FA they must drop a player of equal salary and pay the fee to drop them.
Contracts
Bidding will be done for players before the league starts and as well as during free agency. The minimum salary is 200k. Contracts are rounded to the nearest 100k. Once a bid is open for 48 hours without a bid then the highest bidder is the winner. You will be bidding on the whole dollar amount of the contract. For example. If bid 50m for Chris Paul, I am saying that the entire value of his contract is 50m. Contract guidelines are:
$1m or less = 2 years
$1.1m - $4.9m = 3 years
$5.0m - $9.9m = 4 years
$10m or higher = 5 years
Treat a bid as if it was final. You may never go over the roster limit either.
Example
Dirk Nowitzki has a winning bid of $48m so in terms of years the GM can do the following:
1 year at $48m
2 years at $24m
3 years at $16m
4 years at $12m
5 years at $9.6m - can't do this as it does not reach the min $10m per season
Re-signing released players
If a team releases a player, that team may not re-sign the player for 30 days.
Ineligible players
A player may not be bid on if they do not exist in the Yahoo fantasy database
